The World Cup isn't even over yet, and everyone who got into the traffic early is already sitting in solid profit. I just wrapped a campaign that pulled 14,000 registrations over the tournament. But honestly, I don't want to flex the number. I want to tell you how it actually went, because most of this works in any business, not just mine. The logic is simple. Some events create demand on their own. World Cup, Black Friday, a new iPhone drop. In those windows people are already warm. You don't have to convince them. You just have to show up at the right moment. So I started warming up creatives about 30 days before the opening match. On day one the CPMs jump, and you really don't want to be testing angles while everyone else is already scaling. Bad place to be. Then the interesting part. Timing beat everything. Traffic two or three hours before kickoff converted way better than anything mid-day. The pre-match hype does the selling for you, you just try not to get in the way. Half the creatives I was proud of quietly died. The ones that won were stupidly simple. Geo-wise I leaned into places where football is basically religion and traffic is cheap, so the numbers made sense. Roughly a 6% reg rate off the landing traffic, which for hot event traffic I'll take any day. And here's the part nobody posts. The registrations came in fast, but the deposits lagged a few days behind. If I'd panicked on day two and cut budget because "the regs aren't paying," I'd have killed the campaign right before it started making money. I've watched people do exactly that. They didn't lose on the strategy. They just didn't have the nerve to wait. If you take one thing from this into your own business: don't manufacture demand from scratch if you can ride a wave that already exists. Find your event. And be ready before it starts, not after.
